I discovered Heidelberg's Aldi location yesterday. Extremely cheap food just like the US, but there are more options here in terms of brands, including about a dozen yogurt varieties (even more, if you include the different flavors), which proved problematic for my indecisive self. Also, the shopping carts require a whole euro, instead of a just a quarter. And you get it back eventually, of course, but it's still unnerving...
What a wonderful store, and so wonderfully inexpensive--apart from the carts! Maybe they'll let you bring in reusable bags; as most don't offer plastic bags that might make your whole trip a little bit easier:-).
ReplyDeleteso far I've been using my backpack, and that's worked well except for transporting back the basil plant that's hopefully going to live long enough to keep me company this semester! and yes, I LOVE Aldi... we had them in the midwest, and I heard they're coming to Dallas soon!
